Company Research and Job Description

Each student will create a PowerPoint presentation on a company that is currently hiring in their field of interest. Each student must pick a different company from their teammates, unless approved by the instructor. The Individual Final Project will not be presented to the class.

Consider the following information when creating your presentation.

  • Company Name and location (City, State)
  • Relevant company information
    • Mission statement
    • History
    • Products and services
    • In the news
  • Job Details
    • Title and description of responsibilities
    • Why are you a good candidate for the job?
  • Interview
    • Who would you meet with for the interview?
    • Provide 4 questions you would ask the interviewer – specific to this job and company.

Save File as Lastname.Firstname-CompanyResearch.

Cover Letter and Resume

Use Word to create a cover letter for the position presented in the PowerPoint. Save file as Lastname.Firstname-Cover letter.Final.

Use Word to modify your resume to demonstrate your skills and experience as related to the position. Save file as Lastname.Firstname-Resume.Final.

Interview Questions and Answers

Each student will create a Word document to answer at least five of the interview questions listed below. Include the question and your answer for each. Save as Lastname.Firstname-Interview

  • What techniques and tools do you use to keep yourself organized? How do you want to improve yourself in the next year?
  • Have you ever been on a team where someone was not pulling their own weight? How did you handle it?
  • If I were your supervisor and asked you to do something that you disagreed with, what would you do?
  • If selected for this position, can you describe your strategy for the first 90 days?
  • Tell me about a time when you had to give someone difficult feedback. How did you handle it?
  • What are your salary requirements?
  • What’s the most difficult decision you’ve made in the last two years and how did you come to that decision?
  • When were you most satisfied in your job?
  • Where would you like to be in your career five years from now?
  • If I called your boss right now and asked him “what is an area that you could improve on?” what would he say?
  • What do you like to do outside of work?
  • What are some of your leadership experiences?
  • What can you offer us that someone else can not?
  • Who’s your mentor?
  • Do you have any questions for us?

Students should be dressed in interview attire and be prepared to answer one of these interview question following their team presentation.

Follow up

Use Word to compose a professional follow up letter for a “pretend” interview based on the position. Address the letter to the company contact or your instructor. Save the file a Lastname.Firstname-Followup.

Submit Final Project

Use the drop box to submit your Final Project in a single submission.
