Discussion – Research Paper Topic

For the discussion, complete these tasks:

  1. Read the Preview – Research Paper Assignment.
  2. Answer the discussion prompt in 6-8 sentences.
  3. Reply to 2 other students (2-4 sentences per reply).

Discussion prompt: Choose a topic
for your research paper and presentation. This should be a debated
ethical issue in contemporary United States society. It could be a
well-known social or political issue or a less prominent debate
concerning sports, music, religion, family, art, or popular culture.
Your research topic can be a general issue (e.g., immigration) or
something more closely tied to the news cycle (e.g., a politician’s
recent proposal concerning immigration).

In the paper, you will defend a certain position on your topic
using logical arguments and in the presentation you will share your view
and main findings with the class. In addition, the research paper will
require 3 peer-reviewed and 3 other reputable sources, so keep this in
mind when choosing a topic.

For your discussion post, describe the topic you have chosen,
the position you plan to defend (if you have decided this), and some
main questions you hope to explore in your research.
