For this paper you will choose one television show (cable or Netflix) and analyze the episode for its portrayal of a specific group (could be females, LGBTQ, race, religious, etc.). You will answer the following questions:
1) Does the show portray this group or individual in a stereotypical manner? Or, does the show challenge stereotypes?
2) Are these portrayals negative or positive?
3) What issues or concerns might arise for portraying individuals or groups in such a manner?
As part of the paper you should identify what stereotypes are and explain how the portrayal of particular groups of people in television privileges them, or other groups.
This paper should be 2 pages and is worth 10 POINTS. All writing assignments for this class must follow the style guidelines presented in the 6th edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. All papers for this class must be typed according to the following criteria: 12-point font size, 1’’ margins, double-spaced.
