Respond to at least one other learner as to why something he or she stated in the initial post may be helpful to you as a leader.

Your response must be substantive and contribute to the discussion. Compare your analysis to that of your peer and comment on the similarities and differences that you see. If there are aspects that you do not agree with, present an argument to support your position. If you need more information from your peer, be sure to ask questions for clarity.

Student post down below:

I am a motivator. Although it may sound cliche, I believe in leading by example. At times, motivation is more than verbally encouraging others, it can also be through your actions as a leader. From a professional perspective, I prefer a participative style of leadership. In 2014, D. Sarti defined participative leadership as a leader that “favours the employees’ voice and consults them before making a decision related to their work” (2014, p. 205). “Favours the employees voice” means to listen to suggestions, allow for creativity, to welcome multicultural differences, and to engage differences of opinion. “Consult them before making a decision” means to allow participation with decision making. It is an added strength as a team leader to be inclusive in all aspects of your organization. Inclusiveness helps to prevent intolerable cliques or employees that thrive on demeaning the goals of the organization or rejecting your style of leadership. Participation is a key element of successful organizational planning and is one of my qualities that contributes in a positive way toward the planning process.

I’m a team player. Understanding the concept of team management allows for interpersonal relationships that promotes motivation, productivity, and efficiency. It may not be unique to the planning process but team participation is a critical element in strategic planning. Throughout my career as an ombudsman, giving others a voice in a participative manner has led to policy changes, rehabilitation of criminal minded individuals, improvements in mental health programming, and opportunities for collaboration with other agencies. This experience will hopefully benefit me in the planning stage of any organization.
