I’m working on a transcription project and need support to help me understand better.
Coding of text can be conducted through various software such as NVIVO or Atlas.ti. You can choose how you do it for your dissertation but this course provides guidelines on Atlas.ti coding only because they have a free trial you can use that is not time-limited. Code your interviews following the guidelines provided in this week’s Reading and Preparation. You can watch other videos online on how to code. Code everything that seems interesting to you, and you can create groups later. Once coding is conducted, it will be easy to find patterns and themes and other things of interest to you during the data analysis process.
Code your text using in-vivo codes, predefined codes, open codes, memos, and other notes you may need. Make sure to export your project when finished. If you simply save it, the project file cannot be read on another computer. Follow the directions in Exporting the Atlas.ti Analysis Project (Links to an external site.).
