It’s going to be a good news memo. Attached is an example of a good news memo submitted by a student during a previous semester. You’ll see a style issue or two, but this was done quite well. Here’s the scenario used by the student to write this memo:
You are the founder of Threewheelskateboard.com, a Carlsbad-based start up that manufactures and sells a skateboard model with three wheels running down the center of the board. Riding is not only fun, but it also strengthens core muscles. Sales this year are through the roof, with a 100% increase in revenue over last year at $1,700,000.00. Things are going so well that you’re giving all employees a 20% raise, beginning next month. You’re also having a celebratory banquet on April 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla to show your appreciation to the whole crew. Special menu requests, including gluten free and vegetarian choices, should be sent to Martha in HR by next Tuesday. In addition, all employees will be given two weeks paid vacation and free dental insurance. Write a memo to all employees announcing the new benefits.
