You have two options for your final project and each is described in more detail below:

• IT Management Project Report
• IT Management Research Paper

DELIVERABLE 1 – PAPER:

Option 1: IT Management Project Report. An IT management project report must be based on a real organization where the student obtains first-hand experiences. A report is to identify problems/opportunities of the organization in IT management practice. Please review all chapters of the textbook to identify the problems and opportunities for your project report, and to provide deep analyses and recommendations to the organization to improve the IT management.

Option 2: IT Management Research Paper. A research paper discusses an important issue related to IT management in which you are interested. Typically, a research paper could relate IT management issues to your first major before your graduate degree (e.g., Accounting, Marketing, etc.), or your considered field after MBA or other graduate degree (e.g., supply chain management, healthcare management, general business consulting, entrepreneurship, etc.). Specific topics or ideas in this category can be found from individual chapters of the textbook, but integration of these topics in the textbook is needed.

General Paper Instructions:

• The topic of term paper is chosen by the student and approved by the instructor. Email your proposed topic to the instructor for approval.
• Margins: 1 inch sides and top/bottom
• Font: 12 point Times New Roman
• Length: The minimum length requirement 2000 words (about 4 single spaced pages), excluding references and appendices.
• Paper structure
  • IT Management Project Report:
    • Introduction – company’s background
    • Descriptions of the information system and IT management
    • Problems/opportunities for IT management
    • Analysis and supporting information (incorporating what you have learned from this course and other reach-out information sources)
    • Recommendations, justification, and cost/benefit
    • Implementation plan and conclusion
    • Appendices (optional) – interview/survey, diagrams, samples
    • At least 5 references (IT management literature and/or the Internet) that are relevant to the project – not including the textbook
  • IT Management Research Paper:
    • Introduction – overview of the issue
    • Analysis and discussion of the issue
    • Your suggestion/solution/recommendation/prediction and justification
    • Conclusion
    • At least 5 references (IT management literature and/or the Internet) that are relevant to the topic – not including the textbook

DELIVERABLE 2 – VIDEO:

The video presentation on the topic may be a recorded PowerPoint or other form of presentation and should not exceed approximately 5 minutes in length. The video file (.mp4) can be submitted to the assignment dropbox or uploaded to Youtube, etc.

Video Resources

• You may use voice over in PowerPoint or your phone to record and upload to the assignment dropbox.
• TechSmith Capture (formerly Jing) is a free/easy to use application that will allow you to record up to five minute presentations.
  
• TinyTake – Capture video or screenshots, add annotation, save locally or online.
• Youtube allows direct recording/upload to the site.
• Blackboard Collaborate – Collaborate is a bit clunky, but it is a web conferencing tool that also allows for recording.
