No bibliography is needed unless you cite outside sources. If you do cite other’s work, be sure to use proper citation.
Topic: Select one Chinese song (any style, genre or time period) or a song about China by a foreign band/artist and provide an analysis. Your analysis could cover the lyrics, music video, instrumentation, etc. Try to home in on one or two themes you find interesting and engaging, such as gender, politics, sociological problems, controversial lyrics, generational divides, etc.
I realize that many students do not speak/read Chinese; but you can find English translations of lyrics to many songs online, often embedded in music videos. Or, you can use any song about China/Chinese culture from a non-Chinese band.
