Child Sexual Abuse The purpose of this assignment is for you to learn about child maltreatment and intervention with a specific population by using the empirical literature. Knowledge from research sources will often complement what you learn from direct practice and experience. For this assignment, you are to locate, summarize, and synthesize existing theoretical and empirical knowledge about the type of child maltreatment you have been assigned.

The purpose of this section is to select one intervention or treatment that someone within the social work profession would implement with the type of child maltreatment you have described in Section 1. The intervention/treatment should be an existing intervention or treatment that has been summarized and evaluated in the literature. Use the literature to write a review and synthesis of the literature on the intervention or treatment identified. This section should be minimum 4 pages and should include minimum 4 journal articles. This section should be written in appropriate APA style formatting. In writing the paper, follow the outline below:

1. Intervention/treatment Description – Describe the intervention/treatment selected.
2. Theory of Change – Interventions/treatment modalities are developed based on a certain theory (or theories) or understanding about the presenting problem (i.e., type of maltreatment) and how the intervention/treatment seeks to address the problem. Using what you wrote in Section 1 about the etiology of the problem as a reference, describe the theory or theories of change that guide the intervention/treatment you are reviewing. By providing the theory(ies) of change, you are essentially providing a rationale as to why and how the intervention/treatment will work.
3. Summary of the Literature about the Intervention/treatment – Using the literature, summarize what is known about the effectiveness of the intervention/treatment. In other words, what does the literature (i.e., studies) indicate about the impact of the intervention on the problem area (i.e., type of maltreatment)?
4. Effectiveness – Based on the articles you have read, can you conclude that the intervention will be effective? What evidence can you provide? Are there identified gaps in the knowledge around this topic you have selected that should be considered?
