A. Solution Formation

Then assume that you weigh out 0.2012 g and show the calculation for the actual concentration of the solution. Clearly connect these calculations to procedural steps. Express all numbers with the appropriate number of significant figures and proper units.

B. Filtration
Describe the procedural steps for collecting a solid PbSO4 precipitate out of a liquid mixture contained in an erlenmeyer flask and how an accurate mass of the precipitate is obtained afterward.

C. Titration
Describe the procedural steps for preparing and titrating a 5 mL borax solution, sampled at 55 °C, with 0.52 M HCl solution.

- List the chemicals and equipment needed and describe all manipulations done with these supplies in detail.
- Identify the titrant, analyte, indicator, and end point.
- Calculate the concentration of borate ion. Express all numbers with the appropriate number of significant figures and proper units.
- Follow the formatting requirements outlined in the essay guidelines document
- Content questions cannot be answered by your TA or I – use what you’ve learned from the past two quarters.
- Figures, tables, images, attached Spartan files and the bibliography are not part of the “2 page” page limit. Figures, tables, images, etc can be interspersed throughout the writing once you know you have not exceeded the 2 page limit for the writing.
- The default text size is 12.5 in the Rich Text editor. If you do nothing to the text size, you will be doing the right thing. If you’ve already changed is to 12, make it 14. The main idea is to make the font big enough for the TA to grade. As long as you do not exceed the page limit by more than 1/2 a page with the 14 point font, you are okay.
- Cited URLs are causing problems for some students when the generate their PDFs (the text runs of the right side of the page. To avoid this, put the URLs in their own Rich Text window.
- The ELN page must be submitted before creating the PDF for Gradescope. (You may create a PDF before submitting to make sure you are in the page limit.) If you have not done this, submit and re-upload the new PDF.
