Charting an International Treaty and International Agreement, assignment help

Research

One of the best ways to understand the involved process that can go into the initiation, negotiation/formation, and adoption of a treaty or agreement is to follow a treaty’s creation – from inception to fruition. In this activity, you will choose both a treaty which has been ratified by the Senate, or is currently being considered for ratification by the Senate and chart its progress from negotiation(s) to ratification, and choose an international agreement. As you can imagine, the process for some international agreements is a bit more streamlined than others. For this reason, choose a treaty or agreement that interests you, but also challenges you.

Start your research by using the Hunt Library (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. and use these resources to find your treaty:

Create

Using any software, develop a flow chart from negotiation to an agreement. In your flowchart, note the highlights and/or major changes or roadblocks encountered in the process. Refer to Appendix Figures A-1 and A-2 from Michael John Garcia’s article in the 1.2 Discussion as a basis for your treaty’s or agreement’s flowchart. As indicated in the appendix, a treaty will have 10 steps and an agreement will have 7.

Submit

Save your assignment using a naming convention that includes your first and last name and the activity number (or description). Do not add punctuation or special characters. Prepare a JPG, PDF, DOC, or DOCX file for submission.

Refer to the Charting a Treaty or Agreement rubric for detailed grading criteria.
