Environmental 6  Comprehensive Environmental, Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) and Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) 

1. When and why was CERCLA enacted? Which major event led to the enactment of CERCLA?  Discuss some of the key Superfund dates and other major incidents that emphasized the need for CERCLA.

2. Analyze the problems associated with abandoned hazardous waste sites in general.

Look for a site, city, and state to see if you can learn any information about where you live or where you might work someday.  Then share what you learned.

4. The Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) amended CERCLA on October 17, 1986. Analyze the important changes and additions that were made to the program.
