In your post, please write a letter.
Based on what you have learned so far in this course and the PBS Special “America’s Great Divide,” demonstrate how we might bridge this divide by listening to one another. For ease of assignment description, we will call one side conservative and the other side liberal.
Based on the divisions between conservatives and liberals that you have read about in this course and described in the PBS special, “America’s Great Divide,” imagine a dearly loved person whom you care a great deal about who is of a different political persuasion than you. Write a letter explaining to your dear loved one why you support the political policies that you do and why these policies are better for the United States. Maybe even better for your relative who disagrees with you! (remember – you are assigned a conservative position ).
Note: These are difficult letters to write. You will need to follow the instructions closely. You will have to read the textbook and watch the PBS special. You will have to look past the yelling and screaming and instead identify why people on both sides are so afraid. Pay attention to the assumptions that each side makes about the other. Include lots of specific details.
