Read Chapter 7 page 196-217 in your On Course textbook. In this section you will identify your preferred way of learning. In college you will not always have instructors that teach in a way that works for you. Being a Creator means that you will find ways to adjust to any situation presented to you and find a way to success. As a student, it is your responsibility to know what you can do to learn the course material when your instructor doesn’t teach the way you prefer to learn.

Assignment:

  1. Complete the Learning Preference Inventory on pages 197-199 in your On Coursetextbook.
  2. Total your scores for each letter and write down your scores for the following:
    • A. Thinking ____
    • B. Doing ____
    • C. Feeling ____
    • D. Innovating ____
  3. Think about the most challenging course you are taking this semester. Using what you just learned about how you prefer to learn, explain why the course may be difficult for you: Consider the subject matter, the teaching methods of the instructor, the textbook and any other factors that may contribute to making this course difficult for someone with you preferred ways of learning. If you are not taking any challenging courses this semester, write about a previous challenging course you have taken.
  4. Using what you now know about the way you prefer to learn, write about choices you can make that will help you learn this challenging subject more easily. Use the chart on pages 201-203 for assistance
