Answer each question in one paragraph separately
1- if someone is doing a good thing, does it matter why they do it? Explain your perspective, and see if you can identify why this matters in the social entrepreneurship context.
2- Leaders are readers–and so are the best entrepreneurs, whether they are social entrepreneurs or traditional entrepreneurs. What book or books have you read that either 1) impacted your the way you think, live, or approach problems 2) inspired you in some way, or 3) that you think other people would really benefit from reading? It does not have to be a business related book. It can even be a fiction book. Sometimes, our best business ideas or entrepreneurial solutions come from existing in the intersection between one area and another.
3- Entrepreneurs are often thought of as having a lot of passion for their businesses. But passion has upsides and downsides. When could passion help a social entrepreneur? When might it hurt?
4- What do you think about Homeboy Industries? Why do you think this social enterprise is effective?
One of the barriers to full participation in society is that when people return to society from prison, they often have a hard time getting employed–leading people to return to a life of crime. What do you think could remove that barrier? Why does that barrier exist to begin with? What are people’s beliefs and assumptions around the kinds of issues Homeboy industries tries to address?
