Assignment 2: Project Initiating and Planning (Individual)
This course assignment is a two-part individual essay based on the ResNet Case Study available from the companion Web Site for the Schwalbe text. It is also available from your instructor. This is a real case study about Northwest Airlines’ reservation system project. The first part is on project initiation and the second is on project planning. The total length of your essay should not exceed 10 pages inclusive of the Title page, Introduction, Conclusion, and all references.
Part 1: Project Initiation
Review the actions taken by Peeter and the other senior managers that helped get ResNet off to a good start. How do these actions compare to what earlier chapters presented as good project management practice? If you were the project manager for ResNet, what would have you done differently? Part 1 should not exceed 6 pages in length.
Part 2: Project Planning
Compare the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) provided in this chapter with the information in Chapter 5 of your textbook on project scope management. Provide an analysis and document five suggestions for improving the WBS for the ResNet project. Part 2 should not exceed 3 pages in length.
