Your goal is to commission an artist to create works which represent and honor either your life, your town/school or your family..
Role
You are a patron of the arts.
Audience
The artworks produced by the artist you select will be viewed by your peers.
Situation
The situation is that you are a patron of the arts, which means you support art and artists for the love of art. You know that owning great art can make you seem powerful and rich. You have decided to add to your art collection in order to show others just how powerful and important you are. You will act as a patron of the arts by selecting works which represent either your life, your town / school, or your family. If you lived during the Renaissance, Baroque or Rococo periods, you would have a budget and money to spend, and you would actually hire artistst to paint or sculpt new works for you. For this project however, you will select from existing works, choosing one from each time periods from this unit.
Product
You will create a document that contains 3 artworks that you have selected to represent your life, your town / school, or your family. These can be drawings, paintings, sculptures, etc. In the document, identify the work, the artist, the period of art is from, what the work represents to you / and how / why you selected it.
Criteria for Success
Your product, the document must meet the following standards:
- Contains at least 3 images of works of art from the Renaissance, Baroque or Rococo periods.
- Each work must have a description of what it represents (your life, your town / school, your family), and why you chose it.
- Each work must be labeled with the title, artist name, and it’s art period.
- The source of each work must be identified.
