Power Point Presentation: Health Care Ethics
This requires you to record a PowerPoint presentation. Suppose you are preparing a presentation on health care ethics for a group of managers in a health care organization.
Record a 10–12-slide (excluding title and references slides) PowerPoint presentation. Capture your comments (script) in the Notes section on each slide and collated into a separate Word document. You will submit the Word document when you submit your recorded presentation and PowerPoint slides. Be sure to include visuals in your presentation such as charts, graphs, or other supporting images.
In your presentation, include the following:
- An explanation of the concepts of ethics and morality and how having an understanding of ethical theories, principles, and virtues is helpful for health care managers in resolving ethical dilemmas.
- A discussion of situational ethics, how one’s moral character can change as circumstances change, and how one’s reasoning skills influence their decision-making process.
- A discussion of the purpose of an ethics committee and its consultative role in the delivery of patient care.
- A description of how patient autonomy has been impacted over the years by case law and legislative enactments.
- A discussion of the following ethical concepts dealing with end-of-life issues: preservation of life with limits, euthanasia, advance directives, futility of treatment, withholding and withdrawal of treatment, and do-not-resuscitate orders.
