One Size Does Not Fit All: Technology and ADA
Introduction
The Americans with Disabilities Act requires any organization that
receives any type of federal funding (most colleges and universities, as
well as many social service agencies and organizations) to comply with
rules regarding access for customers and clients. Equal access must be
made available to all. After visiting Capella’s Disability Services
site, you will need to consider how you as a future educator and
instructor must stay current with the law governing equal access, with
the technologies available to support equal access, and with your
institutions’ services.
There is one assignment in this unit, but you will not post a
discussion for this week. Remember to investigate all the resources
offered by the Writing Center as you will one day want to share similar
resources with your learners. -

[u07a1] Unit 7 Assignment 1
Future Use of Technology in Teaching and Learning
Overview
While online education covers about 30% of all college courses
offered (National Center for Education Statistics, 2018), this
percentage is growing each year. In order to provide a quality education
online, colleges and universities integrate a variety of technologies
in order to make learning as interactive as possible. As a leader in the
social work field, you may be asked to teach a college course or
deliver a workshop to social work professionals. To create the most
effective learning environment, you will need to consider the various
technologies available to you for sharing your expertise with other
professionals. While technology can be an excellent tool for many, an
educator must consider ethical issues of its use: privacy rights, equal
access, and equal skills, as well as diversity in learning styles. Your
readings on adult education thus far have sensitized you to various
learning styles, educational objectives, and instructional alternatives.
Consider these as you decide what technologies you might want to
incorporate into your instruction as you share your expertise. Address
how you will take access and ability into consideration (those with
limited access to the Internet, those with visual disabilities, those
with learning disabilities, auditory learners, and more). Finally, you
will share your plan for staying current with technology innovations to
ensure your learners the best education experience possible.Reference
