Cardiovascular disease is currently the number one cause of death in the United States for American adults. This surpasses all other causes of death, including unintentional injuries and all forms of cancer. Amazingly, chronic illnesses like stroke, heart disease, and diabetes are largely preventable. For this discussion, address the risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Which of these factors are preventable, and which are not? For the “Big Six” factors that are within our power to control, what steps can we take to reduce our risk? Provide specific examples from your own life. Respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts. (150 words)

Discuss the significance of early detection and prevention as they relate to the morbidity and mortality of cancer. Specifically, explain how we can decrease our risk for various forms of cancer (i.e., breast, lung, prostate, colon), and increase our chances of survival and life expectancy with early detection measures. In your response, please choose two forms of cancer to discuss. Provide two strategies, for each of the two forms of cancer, which would help you to incorporate early detection measures into your life. (150 words)
