Desired Outcome: Practice using a process designed to help you as a manager/supervisor decide which
tasks to delegate to others as well as helping you prioritize the tasks you should work on yourself and
not delegate.
Scenario: You are a first line supervisor (supervising the actual production of the products on the factory
floor). You work for a large manufacturing company with several other production departments in
addition to your own.
Ask yourself as department supervisor the following questions and answer yes (Y) or no (N) to each of
the three on the worksheet provided.
1. Is your involvement needed in this situation?
2. Is the situation a responsibility of your department (ie…does it affect the performance or
finances of your department?
3. Is quick action required or is there a deadline that must be me?
