Chapter 7: Discussion Question

The Web overturns the traditional hierarchy between products and services.

In your own words, how does cyberservice achieve this?

First peer post belowCyberservice has helped the web overturn the hierarchy between products and services. Cyberservice has done this in multiple ways. One-way cyberservice does this is by sampling products. You can go to a magazine’s site and read a few paragraphs of an article before you purchase the magazine or subscription. Cyberservice does this also by having the customer participate. Having a customer do the work helps in two ways. The first is you don’t have to pay someone to enter in information and the second is it dramatically cuts down on customer errors. When I think about customer participation, I think about booking your flight online now. How easy it is to book a flight is amazing to me. Not too many years ago, you had to call the airline, call a travel agent, or even worse, go to the airport and stand in line to buy a flight. There were no discounts, and you really couldn’t compare prices. Now you can go directly to the airline of your choice enter in where you want to go, and you can get a list of prices on the flights for the day you want to travel. Southwest Airlines even has a calendar option where you can see the low-price flight for everyday of the month you are looking to travel in. If you want to shop all the airlines at once you can use sites like Trivago or Kayak. Again, just enter in all the information for where you want to travel and within a few seconds you have all the different prices for your flight. The bonus with these sites is that they also offer rental car, hotels, and excursions. Before you make the final purchase, the site will ask if all the information is correct, and you can double check to make sure that you have everything correct. This cuts down on errors.Watson, R., Zinkhan, G., Berthon, P., & Pitt, L. (2000). Electronic commerce: The strategic perspective. Second peer belowThe web overturns traditional hierarchy between products and services. How does cyber service achieve this? Cyberservice can achieve this in many ways. Ironically, in the future, there may be a lot of products that in a sense can become more and more troublesome more so for marketers rather than services. Cyber service has three top characteristics that are going to help it achieve this. The first characteristic is the ability to quantize. This is incredibly helpful when it comes to expansion. The second characteristic is search. Cyber serve and search tend to go hand in hand. Search actually goes hand in hand with a lot of things. The last characteristic is automate. Automate is the use of technology to show re occurring tasks and processes. These 3 are the answer.
