Boston College Module 5 Mass Shootings Discussion

Module 5

Following high-profile mass shootings, (Las Vegas, Newtown, Aurora CO, etc.), we continuously debate what the most appropriate response should be. For this discussion post,

Please propose one solution, ie. what YOU think could/should be done to curtail the use of firearms in violent crimes.

This will require you to use data/research to support the solution that you propose (for example, if most guns used in violent crimes are not legally owned, how do we address that- where do these firearms come from?).

The initial post should be the equivalent of 1 page in length or a minimum of 350 words and should include one outside source (i.e., a source outside the regular readings assigned for the week/course).

Text that can be used;

Parker, M., & Wingrove, J. (2021). Biden Urges Senate to Pass Gun Background Check Bill After Boulder Shooting. Bloomberg.Com, N.PAG.

What Congress Is Doing on Gun Control: Mass shootings could prompt bipartisan reform bills. (2021). Congressional Digest, 100(5), 16–17.
