The assignment for this book review is as follows:
1) Must read must read the Introduction
2) Must read Chapter 1, Ideas
3) Must select one chapter from the remaining chapters 2 – 6 from which to write your review.
The writing assignment will require the following:
A general summary of the introduction and intent of the entire work.
A general summary of Chapter 1 discussing the progressive era influences as outlined in the selcetd chapter. Discuss the reasons or impetus for implementing environmental conservation programs. Include the economic and political objectives as well.
Outline the specific chapter that you chose to study and address the following issues for the chapter you have chosen:
- The importance of that particular topic
- The organization And make up of that particular segment of the CCC, (Not the organization of the chapter, but The organization of this segment of the New Deal in terms of manpower, execution of work, administration, politics etc.)
- Discuss how well Maher demonstrated his knowledge of the topic, as well as methods he used To disseminate the information such as tables, graphs, photographs, maps, and etc.
- A summary of the chapter you read and a personal observation in which you state the efficacy of the program, the impact of the program, and the contribution to this program in terms of current day usage. In other words where do we see evidence of that particular program today?

Will need to read only the introduction and two chapters of this entire book, however your critical analysis of what you read is still required
