1. Blog Proposal (please refer to the instructions)
This assignment asks you to develop a plan for your evidence-based response to one of the blog articles listed in the course. The proposal is a summary that uses the summary template to map out your initial ideas for the final blog. You will briefly state why your topic is important, how your argument is different from the blog article and your plans for developing your argument. After working on your critical reading of one of the posted articles of your choice, you will develop the summary proposal based on our templates. A proposal is your initial ideas for the development of a writing project. For the proposal, you will develop a strong argument (claim), which is a coherent combination of evidence (facts/points) and logical analysis (warrants/reasons) that make a point supporting the overall claim. Your argument must be evidence-based, and to develop this you will have to research and read on your topic to find one scholarly article to include in this assignment that supports your perspective (this is not an article linked or discussed in the blog). Please use APA format, style, references and in-text citations.
Rough Notes should address the following (Remember – just answering these questions is not the assignment):
What is the blog article arguing and why? What are the key pieces of evidence presented in the article? What research is used as evidence in the article and what are their findings? Explain.
What is the most interesting point that the article makes? Explain. If you agree with the argument presented by the article, how will you help expand and extend some of the key points? If you are not in full agreement with the article, what points will you research to challenge and develop a counter-argument?
What is the argument you will advance and why? How will you develop this argument? Who are the key experts in the field that you will draw on for evidence to support your claim? And what key references will you use and why? What evidence do these particular experts provide for your argument? Why is this compelling for your reader? Point to the “big picture” “so what?” significance of the issue at hand. What kind of change do you hope to provoke in your readers?
The Proposal will be a summary (400 words max.) that uses the Blog Proposal Template, uses one outside scholarly source, and is in APA format.
