Book Exam for Black Like Me, John Howard Griffin

In a complete essay, answer ONE of the following. Your exam must be one page, single-spaced, in 10 pt. Times Roman font. Please do not forget to answer the entire essay question (100 points). DO NOT USE OUTSIDE SOURCES. THE BOOK IS SUFFICIENT FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT. Do not put a header on your paper.

1) BRIEFLY explain how Griffin darkens his skin. In your opinion, would he really be able to pass himself off as a Negro? Why is he accepted as a Negro by Southern society, both white and African-Americans?

2) It is apparent in the book that all Southerners, both white and African-Americans, had multiple personalities; that is, they treated people of the same race differently than people of the opposite race. Explain this statement and give some indication as to why this is the case in the American South.
