Article Summary Guidelines
Article Summary papers typically run 3-5 (double-spaced) pages. You should write a detailed summary of the paper that includes:
1. The main theme and topic of the article. (3 points)
2. The methods (if applicable – some are review papers) and the evidence used to support the conclusions of the paper. (3 points)
3. Describe the role of phylogenetic analysis in the paper (if applicable). (4 points)
4. Summarize the conclusions of the paper. (5 points)
5. What is your opinion of the researcher’s work? This will include a thoughtful response to the researcher’s methods and conclusions and thought about further research. (2 points)
Grammar will be graded as well (3 points).. Run your paper through spell- & grammar-check!! Also, do NOT state that the authors/researchers have proven their findings – we do not “prove” anything in science. Include the title of the article you are reviewing and the authors of the paper.
