Primary Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 200-250 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.
Performance evaluation is a common HR practice across most companies today, especially companies with high numbers of employees and multiple layers within their reporting structure. When used correctly, performance improvement tools can have significant impact on a company or organization’s overall performance, but sometimes those tools become a check box activity that lends little actual value.
For this Discussion Board, please consider how managers and leaders assess and evaluate employees. Answer the following questions:
- Why do managers and leaders measure employee performance?
- Think of a time when you had your performance measured at work or school. Do you believe that the right measures were used to accurately assess your performance in that situation? Why or why not?
