Write an essay describing in detail each of the 11 different psychiatric disorders that a patient may have. For each disorder, write the description first, followed by how to manage a patient with the disorder in the field as an EMT. When discussing EMS management of the different psychiatric disorder patient types, the following items should be discussed:
1.Scene Safety.
2.Use of other disciplines for assistance (law enforcement, CIT, negotiators, etc).
3.Potential medical issues that patients may have that mimic or exacerbate behavioral issues.
4.Alternate transport destinations (Behavioral health facilities, clinics, private offices etc.).
5.Potential medical issues that the patient may have because of the behavioral disorder and appropriate levels of care to provide.
