Choose an example of energy, metal, mineral, rock or any other resource that humans take from the ocean.
Describe the use and importance of this resource to humans and some of the possible dangers and environmental impacts of exploiting this resource. Is there any danger of overexploitation? What can be done to make this resource sustainable?

Yes , I think fish will run out one day. Overfishing is the catching of too many fish. Since there is overfishing, the breeding of the fish population becomes too decimated to recover. The problem with overfishing is that it is wasteful commercial fishing because they catch large amounts of unwanted fish or other sea life. Due to this problem, about a third of the world’s fisheries are having problems. This problem is not being managed and the fisheries which in turn will cause a food crisis. There seems to be more of a focus on the jobs that will be lost, rather than the depleted number of fish in the ocean. Therefore, the number of fish are not populating at the rate they should to sustain their existence. The pollution of the ocean is also not helping the fish to populate. There is also recreational fishing that adds to the number of fish lost. There is even high tech machinery like radar and sonar equipment that is used to help locate and catch the largest amount of fish possible. There needs to be some regulation of the amount of fish that are being caught, or I do believe we will run out of fish one day. Fish are important to humans because we use them for food and it is a source of protein for humans. I would choose thermal energy. This energy is mainly produced by the sun. It can also be gotten from the land and ocean. If the ocean did not receive thermal energy, it could destroy ecosystems in the ocean. It could also cause harm to marine life.

1. If our oceans keep being polluted and fish are constantly hunted down then we could run out of fish in I assume the next 40 – 50 years. Fish are a very important resource for our oceans. They have a major impact on the food web down In the ocean. If our fish were to be overexploited then that could lead to extinction of fish. There are many countries that depend on fish as a primary food source which would cause havoc upon their environment. So to be able to limit fish as a scarce resource would be a good idea but also creating laws that enforce that concept. It is not a good thing to run out of fish because the ocean’s eco-system would be all messed up and some areas around the world would not have any food too eat. So I believe that it is important that we can at least limit fish because they are a resource and are profitable but they also make the ocean’s eco-system healthy.
