Barstow Community College The Constitution Fulfillment or Betrayal Discussion

U.S. history is often seen in a very linear, narrative format (as is most studies of history). However, the realities of history is much more nuanced and complicated. In this case, students will examine the writing of the U.S. Constitution and consider it in light of the values and reasons for the revolt against Great Britain.

For this assignment:

  • Students will read the articles assigned com/courses/9176/files/1192006/download”>https://barstow.instructure.com/courses/9176/files…
  • Students will create two lists
    • List 1: The Constitution Did Betray the Revolution
    • List 2: The Constitution Did Not Betray the Revolution
  • Each list will contain specific information/evidence from the readings categorized under the correct position (summarizing the main points).
  • After categorizing the evidence for both sides, students will then write one good, academic paragraph answering the question: Did the Constitution betray the Revolution?
