Chapter 1 – Introduction to Operations and Supply Chain Management
1. Visit the web site of three companies with which you are familiar. What does the mission or vision statement tell you about each organization? Is the mission or vision reflected in the way the web page is presented? – 5 points
2. Read about the Balanced Scorecard at the website of its creators. How does the scorecard compare to hoshin planning? – 5 points
Chapter 2 – Quality Management
1. Link to the European Quality Award (www.efqm.org) web site https://www.efqm.org/ . How does this award compare to the Malcolm Baldrige Award? Do they have similar categories and criteria? How are they similar and different? Name two of the most recent winners of the European Quality Award in each category? – 5 points
2. Go to the Malcolm Baldrige Award web site (https://www.nist.gov/baldrige) . What are the different award categories and criteria? Describe the award process. How would a company apply for the award? How are the winners chosen? Who are the most recent winners? -5 points
