Physical Development
- Identify at least three critical concepts of physical development specific to the life stage of the child
- Document observations of the child that reflect these concepts.
- Describe your observations of the child’s current state of physical development
- Draw connections between your observations and physical development theory.
- Share specific examples of what the child is able to do in terms of physical skill, and how that reflects the norms for a child of that age.
- Also share examples of things the child is not able to do from your observations but might be expected to given norms for a child that age.
- Select Physical Education activities appropriate to the age group and skill level of the child.
Cognitive Development
- Identify at least three critical concepts of cognitive development specific to the life stage of the child
- Describe your observations of the current state of the child’s cognitive development, drawing connections between your observations and cognitive theory.
- Describe the child’s performance and behavior in the classroom.
Socio-emotional Development
- Identify three concepts of socio-emotional development.
- Describe the social setting in which your selected child was observed.
- Identify three concepts of spiritual/moral development.
- Describe how your observational findings could be used as a future educator.
Spiritual Development
- Identify three concepts of spiritual/moral development pertinent to the child’s development, based on evidence from the observation and interview
- Discuss how the child’s spiritual/moral development impacts the child’s overall development.
