Your boss is considering adding aircraft charter to the company’s air travel options. Never having worked in aviation, shehas no idea what the options areor any of the items that must be considered when choosing a charter operator. Knowing that you are an aviation student atUNOshe asks you to put together a document providing her with general information on aircraft charter as well as some of the thingsto consider when choosing a charter provider. It is up to you to decide which information should be included, but at a minimum you should address:

How aircraft charter works and its advantages over airline travel

General regulatory requirements for charter operators (Operating Certificate, applicable FAR chapters)

Cost considerations (How flights are billed, additional fees, Jet Cards, Block Programs etc.)

Note: You do not need to provide actual cost estimates for this assignment, just provide your bossan idea of how charter costs are structured and some of the fees that may be charged

Safety considerations and auditing companies

Operating and Service considerations (fatigue rules, internationaloperations, catering etc.)

Provide recommendations for aircraft capable of meeting the company’s needs

Keep the information in your document concise, maximum of 2 pages. Use tables, graphs and illustrations when appropriate todisplay the information. Remember, your boss is a busy woman. The quicker and moreeasily shecan glean information from your document the more effective and well received you will be. The information you include in the assignment does not have to be limited to the above bullet points, include whatever information you feel will be the most important to your boss in making the decision.

NOTE: This assignment addressed aircraft charter only, do not confuse charter with fractional ownership, or whole aircraft ownership.
