Short Paper #3: Putting Your Top 5 into Action
An essential part of being an effective leader is fostering collaboration and strengthening others. Additionally, effective leaders recognize the contributions of others and make time to celebrate victories.
Introduction – Which traits in your Top 5 will inspire others to be their best/produce their best effort? Why?
Reflect on a positive experience with your top 5 – Describe a time when you used one of your Top 5 in a team environment that had a positive outcome. How did it affect how people acted toward each other? What did you contribute to making the team work?
Reflect on a negative experience with your top 5 – Describe a time when you used one of your Top 5 in a team environment that had a negative outcome. How did it affect how people acted toward each other? Why was one of your top 5 an obstacle in this situation?
Analyze your Top 5 – Give examples of how your Top 5 can work to inspire and to encourage collaboration.
- Conclusion – What have you learned about yourself as a leader with regard to your Top 5? How would you improve your past actions to meet future organizational objectives with regard to your Top 5?
