Create and post a PowerPoint presentation with an 8-10 slide (including title and summary slides) overview of your new facility. The presentation should show your classmates what you accomplished.

1. In your first post, attach the PowerPoint and write a few sentences summarizing your project. Also provide suggestions you would give future students to help them with their projects.

Your slides should include the following:

• Title slide: Project title, your name, date, course name (Professional Capstone)
• Project Information:o Brief description of and reason for choosing your facility
o How will this facility will fill a need, services your facility will offer
o Your SWOT analysis and organizational chart
o Obstacles you encountered upon during project
• Reflection- how did you do? What did you learn?
• What would you do differently if you did this project again?
• Summary/closing

2. Post responses to two classmates, providing feedback on their presentations and projects.

Student 1:

Hey everyone!

Congratulations to you all for finishing the course! I dont know about you guys, but this was one of the most difficult classes I took. For this course, I started a pediatric infectious disease clinic. It was important to start this clinic because access to healthcare is a major issue in rural parts of Oklahoma. I opened the clinic in an area where there are currently no speciality pediatric clinics. Patietns are having to drive about a hundred miles for any speciality pediatric care. Opening this clinic will hopefully encourage other speciality clinics to open as well, solving the access to care issue in southern Oklahoma.

Some advice I would give to future students regarding this project, is to really plan out assignments and do not wait until the last minute. I also would recommend that students use their mentors as much as they possibly can. I did not use my mentor, unless it was required, because I did not think I needed them. Looking back, I could have really used their input and some of their resources to provide better quality assignments. I also think a group discussion for future students just to ask each other for advice and feedback would be very useful as well. There were some assignments that I was pretty confused about, asked for help from the instructor, but was still slighly confused. It would have been helpful to have a discussion just where students can ask each other for advice and compare assignments. I am glad to have finished this degree and good luck to everyone with whatever you decide to do!

Student 2:

I created a rural general dental practice, River County Dental. My mission statement for my business is to be committed to excellence in all our services to our patients so that we may help them achieve the highest level of dental health appropriate for their needs in an atmosphere of trust and compassion.

The community of Horseshoe Bend, ID has not had a full-time dentist to meet their needs. The services that River County Dental will be providing is general dentistry. General dentistry includes complete oral exams, diagnostic x-rays, dental cleanings, composite fillings, crowns, and extraction. With this practice they will have access to needed quality dental care.

If I was going to do the project over again, I would have done more research on the laws in the state of Idaho.

My suggestion for future students is to make sure they pick a mentor that can help them develop their business. With the help of my mentor, Dr. Bybee and those I interviewed, Whitney and Lupita, I was able to critique my business model to make it be more successful.

This has been a lot of hard work yet very rewarding to me as I feel I have created a much needed and beneficial business.
