Assignment 1: Issues to Consider in a Crisis Management Plan

Crisis management is about making decisions to tackle or mitigate the effects of a serious event. Decisions during a crisis are often made while the event is unfolding. Good crisis management is about making decisions that affect the organization’;s future at a time when people are under stress and, in many cases, lack key pieces of information.

Being able to successfully manage a crisis is about doing as much preplanning as is practical before a crisis starts. Preplanning gives an individual the best position to assess how the individual and his or her institution would respond to and mitigate an actual crisis situation.

Creating several crisis management plans for different situations is best because the same type of crisis may have a different set of circumstances at different times.
