For this task, you will write a paper to help you evaluate progress monitoring for students with intellectual disabilities. There are two parts to include in your paper. Both parts will be submitted in one document.

Part I:

Identify an educational level of interest (pre-school, elementary, middle, high school). From this week’s readings and your own research, discuss a set of research-based strategies used to monitor the academic achievement and adaptive skills of students with intellectual disabilities. Be sure to include both formative and summative assessments and the corresponding time schedule for their implementation throughout a given school term. Describe how this progress monitoring approach may differ within special education and inclusive, general education classroom settings.

Part II:

Based on the same educational level of interest identified in Part 1 of the assignment, describe the informal assessment procedures for students with intellectual disabilities involving special education teachers, inclusionary general education teachers, school counselors, school nurses, paraprofessionals, and other support personnel as well as parents and caregivers. Include the type of information to be gleaned and how it could be most effectively utilized to enhance achievement and skills of students with intellectual disabilities.
