Ted was parked in a Hummer covered with antigovernment slogans, including �Death to the Po-Po.� Officer Friendly took offense at this display and arrested Ted for disrupting the peace. The next day, Ted was back out on bail and back at the park. This time he was burning a U.S. flag and a wooden Star of David. Officer Friendly again arrested Ted, this time for violating a state law that prohibited burning U.S. flags and the state�s Hate Crime Law, which made desecrating any religious symbol a violation of the law. Once again, Ted got out on bail and was back at his protest location. This time when Officer Friendly passed by, Ted looked him in the eye and said �I�m tired of you messing with me, and I�m going to get you for it. I�ve got a Hummer, and I know how to drive it.� Officer Friendly arrested Ted once again, this time under a law that makes it illegal to threaten someone�s life. Ted eventually goes to trial on all the charges and makes the claim in all cases that he was merely exercising his First Amendment rights. Discuss what rulings the court might make in each case.
