Anglia Ruskin University Placating Listening Style Discussion

I’m trying to study for my Social Science course and I need some help to understand this question.

Please respond to analais

My most poorest listening style is Placating. This is when you say things like “Right…right…absolutely…I know…of course you are…yes…really? in conversations. I do this with people I don’t really like or when the conversation get’s boring. While still wanting to seem interested in the conversation I shake my head or say “yeah” a lot, but my mind does drift elsewhere. I believe that this is all apart of me being a people pleaser. Even not caring about the conversation with the other person, I still want to be polite. Some ways to help me overcome this listening style is to stop trying to appease everyone but to realize I have a choice. If I don’t agree with what someone is saying I should be able to speak my truth and feel no conviction. Now, with the half-listening part I could overcome that with being more aware and interacting more in the conversation.
