Analyze the emergency instruction above and point out the things it lacks to be considered a good quality instruction.

I need this paper for my online discussion post for a technical communication course. Our discussion this week is about instructions. An example has been given to us Well Control Handbook.

Background about Well Control Handbook:

In 2010, a failure to construct and control the reality for users of Transocean’s Well Control Handbook, and in particular how to respond to blowouts, led, in part, to the Deepwater Horizon disaster. As explained in a New York Times article: “The
Horizon’s owner, Transocean, the world’s largest operator of offshore
oil rigs, had provided the crew with a detailed handbook on how to
respond to signs of a blowout. Yet its emergency protocols often urged
rapid action while also warning against overreaction. Fred Bartlit,
chief counsel for the presidential commission that is looking into the
Horizon disaster, said Transocean’s handbook was “a safety expert’s
dream,” and yet after reading it cover to cover he struggled to answer a
basic question: “How do you know it’s bad enough to act fast?” Including both procedures and instructions, the Well Control Handbook essentially failed to help users when they needed it most.

So what you need to do for the paper is analyze the emergency instruction above and point out the things it lacks to be considered a good quality instruction. Remember that it has to be an analysis and to be able to do that check the pages below from the textbook that I’m going upload. (It is really important, we have to use information from the textbox for the analysis). Additionally, it also really important to support your analysis with 1 or 2 screenshots from “Well Control Handbook” to show what you are talking about and use it as evidence. Incorporate the screenshots with your analysis wherever they’re needed, it’s a discussion post so it’s alright.

Pages to look on textbook:

“The
Qualities of Good Technical Writing” (T&D 8), the “Style Checklist”
(T&D 74), the “Quick Tips” for writing instructions (T&D 275),
and the “Checklist for Developing Instructions/Procedures” (T&D p.
306).

Finally I also uploaded an example to give you an idea for the paper, please check it out
