Algorithms for Journalism The Future of News Work Questions

Instructions:   

Please pick one of the articles you used for your Proposal Paper.  

Make sure the article is quantitative and has a Method(ology) section!  

Looking at your article, please answer the following  questions.  You can just type the question number (1.) and your answer.

Be sure to watch the Chapter 8 Lecture first!

Questions:

What is the full title of your article? (Just the title is enough)

What is the population being studied?   Your answer can be very broad.   Look at the title of your article for help.  Answer this question with: “The population is all people [or non-people such as an advertisement] who…”

What is the sampling frame that was used?  You will need to go to the Method section.  Look under “Sample” or “Sampling” there.  Where did the participants come from?  College students?  Online?

Was this a random or nonrandom sample?  Which type of  random or nonrandom sample was used?  Convenience?  Volunteer?  Make your best guess!

In your opinion, is this sample representative of the population?  Compare your answers to questions 2. and 3.  What do you think?  Why?
