Part1
Think about all the various issues dealing with problems or are controversial. What are 3 issues that you are passionate about? Why? (DO NOT USE: ABORTION, GUN CONTROL, DEATH PENALTY OR MERCY KILLING (EUTHANASIA) Those topics have proven to be problematic, as many people have their minds made up, use religion as a source, and causes an uncomfortable atmosphere in the classroom.
Is there a documentary that discusses, supports, explains or refutes your cause? Look for at least one for each.

Comment 1
One issue that I’m really passionate about is police brutality. I think it is ridiculous that still in 2021 we still have to deal with racism and police brutality. I was personally wrongly profiled by the police when I was only 16 years old. There are many documentaries and series about this topic. One of them is “ when they see us”.
. A second topic I’m passionate about is universal healthcare. As a Biomedical engineer major one of my main focuses is helping people have a better quality of life. I believe that everyone deserves a chance at a better quality of life, that is why I believe there should be Universal Healthcare.
. The third topic I’m passionate about is Climate Change. I am a Puerto Rican, one that has affected us more than anything are Hurricanes. Hurricanes have increased their intensity and frequency in the last few years because of the increase in Global Warming. I believe it is our duty to do something about it. There are many documentaries about climate change, sustainability and similiar topics.
Comment 2
feel strongly about is human trafficking. I think it is one of the most overlooked topics in the United States right now. A documentary to support this is, “I am Jane Doe”.
. I also feel very strongly about animal mistreatment. Animals can be treated in horrible ways, most of the time for human entertainment. A documentary that relates to this is called “Behind the Closed Curtain”. This documentary uncovers the horrific practices of carnival companies in training animals for shows.
. Lastly, I am passionate about keeping our Earth clean. I am apart of the sustainability organization on campus, and we have monthly campus cleanups. The amount of trash that can be recovered just from our botanical garden is shocking. A documentary relating to this is “Trashed”.
Part 1 example
I am passionate about animal brutality and my reasoning is the fact that i just love animals and hate seeing them hurt or treated wrongly. There are many documentaries but one for example is “Blackfish” that focuses on SeaWorld cruelty.2.I also am passionate about Climate change for the reason that this planet is our only home and these changes are greatly affecting it and not in good ways. A documentary covering this topic is “Our Planet” and it covers different habitats and how they are being affected including wildlife decline.3.I also believe the drinking age should be lowered to 18 considering the fact thats the age we are able to go into the army. I personally don’t see how we are able to serve and put our lives on the line but not enjoy an alcoholic beverage legally. There aren’t any documentaries on this topic however there are tons of informational videos and articles.
Part 2 exmaple
The reply comments Hi I completely agree with you about the animal brutality. I also love animals and hate to see them being mistreated. It’s crazy how it is so normalized in zoos, aquariums, and other places like Sea World. I have not seen the documentary “Blackfish” yet, but it’s definitely something I want to check out. Hi I agree with all your topics. I would like to comment on your third one. I believe it is stupid that the drinking age is 21, not because I care about drinking, but as you said there are many other things that people can do before 21 that in my opinion should not be allowed to. For example buying a gun or being able to go to the army.
