This paper must be typed, double-spaced with one-inch margins on every side, and have 12 point font. The paper is a historiographical treatment of a topic in AMERICAN business history concerning a business, an invention, a person, a theory, or an industry. The paper can be local or national, or international in scope (but focused on America). However, 1/3 of the paper must be based on research from primary sources. Primary sources include such items as corporate records, newspapers, and letters among others. These will be available at the Manchester Historical Society Research Center, the Manchester Library, and other local sources (libraries). Local businesses may also have their own archives. Some primary sources are also available online (research centers like the Massachusetts Historical Society). This paper should be double spaced, with a thesis statement (what are you trying to prove?) with headings, use of APA citations (approximately 10-15 sources), a reference page, and a cover page. 10 pages are required for this paper.
