In this module, we introduced different types of assessment and their uses. For this assignment, you will create assessments using differentiation.
- Create a Word document for your response.
- Use APA format for the title page, references page, and in-text citations.
- Follow the steps to complete the assignment.
Step 1. Create
Using the same lesson plan from the previous module, create a differentiated assessment for each learner (advanced, average, struggling) to measure student skills and abilities. Label each assessment within your paper: 1.) advanced learner assessment, 2.) average learner assessment, 3.) struggling learner assessment.
- Did it provide a range of responses to easily identify student needs?
- Did it clearly cover the depth and breadth of content?
- How would it guide instructional choices?
Step 2. Reflect
Answer each question with 1 or 2 well-developed paragraphs.
- How well have you been prepared over the years to create a wide variety of differentiated assessments (for advanced, average, struggling learners)?
- What type of thinking is required to adjust the assessment component to meet a range of needs?
- What issues need to be addressed to make this a practical approach which can be used frequently?
In this module, we focused on practice, the third supporting pillar of differentiated instruction. For this assignment, you will create options to address a student’s readiness, interest, and learning profile.
- Create a Word document for your response.
- Use APA format for the title page, references page, and in-text citations.
- Compose an introduction and conclusion for your paper.
- Follow the steps to complete the assignment.

Step 1. Research
Research learning profile inventories. Locate 3 viable websites that address this information.
Provide either screenshots or URLs and brief descriptions for each of the 3 websites.
Step 2. Expand
Using the same 3 distinct instructional sections created in Module 2, expand these descriptions to include different readiness, interest, and learning profiles.
Step 3. Reflect
Answer each question with 1 or 2 well-developed paragraphs.
- What approach to thinking did you use to add the additional components for the instructional piece?
- How might this approach change the way you plan lessons in the future?
