3. Response Essay #2

For this response essay, you must critically examine at least 4-5 readings from Modules 3 and 4. Do not simply reflect on the readings, but also critically deconstruct and evaluate the authors’ larger arguments. You should interrogate the authors’ theses as well as provide in-depth analyses of the strengths and weaknesses of the authors’ arguments. You can also build on previous knowledge by making connections among the readings and/or connecting what you have learned in the readings to course material from other classes. In addition, you should examine your subjectivities in relation to your thoughts about the readings. For example, how do your race, class, gender, age, etc., impact the way that you evaluate the merits and deficiencies of the authors’ larger arguments. Your response essays must synthesize at least 4-5 readings read in Modules 3 and 4.Each response essay should be about 5 pages in length. Please cite course materials frequently (at least 3 citations per page) and include a works cited page.

Discussion Boards (5)

You will participate in 5 discussions related to course topics. A new question will be posted to the discussion board each week covering that week’s assigned readings, videos, podcasts, and topics. You will be expected to post 1 initial response to the question and comment on at least 3 other classmate’s posts. The initial response should be about 2 paragraphs. Each comment should be about 1 paragraph in length.

Response Essays (2)

During the course of this class, you are asked to write 2 response essays, each based on 2 modules. A response essay must critically examine the assigned readings for the 2 modules. Your response essays should synthesize most of the readings due for the 2 modules you are examining. This does not mean that you must discuss all readings read during the course of 2 weeks. It does mean, however, that you should discuss at least 4-5 readings read during the 2 weeks. Each response essay should be about 5 pages in length. Please cite course materials frequently (at least 2-3 citations per page) and include a works cited page.
