Use the library or other credible resources to find one example of unethical research. Provide detail on how and why this study was done unethically (you may not any of the studies listed on the PowerPoint)
You may not use the any of the examples discussed in class or on the week’s power point (Tuskegee Syphilis Study, WWI Atrocities: Leading to Nuremburg Trials and Nuremburg Code of 1947, Willowbrook Study of Infectious hepatitis with children with mental retardation, Milgrims Obedience Study,)
As you write up your argument for ethical or unethical research consider:
How was recruitment done?
How was informed consent used?
Was deception used?
Was there a benefit to participants? The greater population?
How was justice achieved? Respect for persons?
Was this a vulnerable population or high risk topic?
This research study should be something based on the social work field, mental health etc.
ETHICAL STUDY: The student identified a research study that was conducted ethically
ETHICAL RESEARCH ARGUMENT: The student identified key factors that demonstrate that the chosen study was completed ethically. The student discussed vulnerable populations, high risk topics, respect for persons, beneficence, and justice. If necessary the student discussed recruitment, sampling, and methods as related to ethics.
UNETHICAL STUDY: The student identified a research study that was not completed ethically.
UNETHICAL RESEARCH ARGUMENT: The student identified key factors that demonstrate that the chosen study was completed unethically. The student discussed vulnerable populations, high-risk topics, respect for persons, beneficence, and justice. If necessary the student discussed recruitment, sampling, and methods as related to ethics.
