Section I: Comparisons
Please put together FOUR comparisons from the required images assigned from after the midterm.* You may compare images from any time period or lecture. Comparisons may be composed of images from different movements or from within the same movements. You may only use each image one time. Comparisons should be about 200 words. 10 points each. (40 points total)
*If you would like—for one comparison—you may use one image from before the midterm to make a comparison.
Remember to:
• Identify the designer, date, and movement.
• Compare and contrast the images, explain why you choose to put them together. What makes them similar? What makes them different?
• Make sure that your analysis goes beyond stylistic similarities.
• Remember to explain what some of the characteristics of the designs are that make them typical of their movement.
• Include any other information you find relevant in relation to the movement and/or cultural context.
II. Short Answers
Please answer the following questions discussed in assigned readings using specific object examples or readings. Answers should be about 150 words each. Each question is worth 5 points. (25 points total)

III. Essay
Please choose ONE of the following questions. Remember to use specific object examples and examples from the readings and answer the question as completely as possible. The essay should be about 350 words. 35 points.

2. Using at least 4 examples, explain how Streamlining was applied to objects during the 1920s and 1930s. Explain why designers used Streamlining. What was it meant to accomplish?
3. Using at least 4 examples, explain how new technologies and materials changed furniture design in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s.
4. Use at least 4 examples as evidence to explain how design reflects some of the characteristics and ideas of American Art Deco.
5. Using at least 4 examples, explain the relationship between design and motherhood and how it is expressed in contemporary design?
6. What role did MoMA play in influencing taste in the postwar period through its exhibitions? Use at least 4 examples.
7. Use at least 4 examples as evidence to explain how they reflect some of the characteristics and ideas of Postmodernism.
8. Using at least 4 examples, explain how design in the 1960s responded to “Pop”.
