It would appear that most cite the same baisc purpose of any operating system. The various answers are all essentially on point and give the broadest possible purpose of a computers operating system. The operating system is the overall framework that allows a user to communicate with a computer system’s hardware interactively.
Without the operating system, how would a user be able to instruct the system to do anything?
The operating system is essential to any computing system that requires a technology to interface between a user and some other part of the system (i.e., application, device, etc.). Would you agree with this statement? If so, provide an example of a system where an operating system is not required for the system to function?
