ERP software is a suite of applications that manages core business processes such as sales, purchasing, finance, human resources, customer support, customer relationship management (CRM), and inventory. ERPs are integrated systems, as opposed to stand-alone software designed specifically for a particular business process. Examples of ERP applications include the following:

  • Oracle NetSuite
  • Sage Intacct
  • Brightpearl
  • Odoo
  • PeopleSoft
  • SAP Business One
  • SAP ERP
  • Microsoft Dynamics
  • Datatel (aka Ramlink at Wesleyan)

To successfully complete this discussion, follow these steps:

First, review the following articles to gain background knowledge about ERP:

Then, for your initial post, address the following:

  • Choose a specific ERP system that you would like to learn more about
  • Assess the pros and cons of that ERP system
  • Explain why, given the importance of ERP, 75% of all ERP projects fail. Be sure to support your argument with references cited in APA style.

Finally, respond to at least two of your peers by critiquing their assessments of the pros and cons of the ERP system they selected and their arguments as to why most ERP projects fail. Share any personal experiences you have that back up your statements or further support your peers’ original arguments.
